It depends on your category, my knowledge would say most Golf would be group n? Check the CAMS website and in the Regulations for group n there is a section of allowable mods.

Ok mate... There is a few things u need to consider and the main being what class are u going to run the car in... Mk1 can run in Improved production, Under 2ltr sports sedans or pro cup... Depending on where u live may depend on what classes are avalibale...

If u are wanting to get the care CAMS Log book approved u will have to go through all the procedures ect...

But this is what i recomend... keep the roof lining, door cards, dash, and do not modify or cut extensive areas of body work bcuz in classes like improved productoin u must reatain this...

Engine wise u have to be very smart also, i recomend u keep in the under 1600 class bcuz when u go above u are up against some very powerful new 2ltrs with things such as VTEC etc...

Dads golf is pretty lite 830 kg and its caged etc... Runs 16v on Motec ect...

PM me if u would like to know more..

Main thing is reall deciding on what class to run....

If the car is designed for circuit days u dont need a log book but depending on where u run they may want some of the above regs that i said as its a production car...

    Hope that helps...

    Cheers James
