    Welcome me to your world

So I have now become a MKI owner. We have been looking around for a few months for a cheap second car and this one has come up after looking at hillmans, fiats and aircoolers.

It is a bit rough around the edges, but the engine and drivetrain are in good order. It has little rust and all things considered it was a good buy. It has new Koni Adjustables and Spax Springs so there is a bit of money saved.

I will need to get some immediate advice, like how does the reverse light switch - but mostly I will learn from the Haynes and you fine folk to make this into a reliable daily.

    It is complianced as 06/76.

    Please play fair with me!

Reverse light switch is on the gearbox, two wire.
If there is power there, is probably the switch, if not find a good power source and put in a new circuit for the easiest fix.

Car looks ok Mik. I just sold my 6/76 5 door yesterday, funny that you get one today.

Welcome to the fun that is mk 1 ownership! Congrats on the purchase. I remember that car from nats. Didn't look too shabby, and if it's got a good driveline, then you're sorted

nope, see below for more details. Swallowtails were all really early models, the main difference being the rear panel being shaped different I believe they also have a different bonnet.

    Ta!

Now I need to do both tie rod, CV boot and then I get the blue slip.

Other things to do are interior light, wire guages, door latches and a general tidy up.

When is the next MK1 gtg?
