Leave your politics back in the bad ole USA.In recent times both Australia and that great place Canada have had referendums to keep the monarchy. We are quite happy with them.Just think if the British hadn't settle in north America the USA would just be a bigger Mexico.

There's some of us who don't give a f*** what your politics are or where you come from. This is where we talk about our cars and appreciate what you've done to yours.

    Cheers

Here is the link to the new information. You can use it from the USA as long as its current.
    You are wrong.

    Suggest you go back.

If any of the information about the process is incorrect or if I offended anyone then from the bottom of my heart I want to say I'm sorry. I am not an expert. There is a language barrier as I do not speak proper English (Just American And Spanish) please blame it on that.

Wow.... I've never told an immigrant to "go back" because they might have gotten something wrong. I can only tell you what I was told at the centre and by the visa lawyer. I'm sorry that I mentioned it.

My intent was to convey humor (I even mentioned gun toting American nut job crazies) and document the process that I'm going through as it might be useful to others in the future.

Once again... I'm sorry if I offended anyone (Australian or American).

**** me, way to make a newish and active member welcome

Anyway, I read it and thought you may have had a handle on sarcasm. But obviosuly some here seem to be a little defensive of our soverign ways, I will advise that every state is completely different, federation and all that. I suppose the real lesson is to remember rednecks aren't just confined to the US

Read reply 7 & 8 which tells you the correct info Visa agents and car salesmen are on about the same level.

You have gone to a lot of trouble to only be able to drive the car a few times a year because a CLUB registration DOES NOT allow you to use it as a daily drive.
Also you may have got licences equiv to yours but to drive a bus with passengers requires an endorsement including a Police check from your home country.

Immigration is a bit of a sensitive issue in Autralia at the moment and you came across sort of the wrong way especially about the Queen being a personal affront.

I think having all your paper currency the same size and colour is a bit odd but wouldnt be telling the world if I was over there

Telling us our info is wrong when we are trying to help isnt the thing to do either.

We were trying to clarify things for you as posting incorrect info is not helpful and you didnt seem to accept it

I quite like America but spend time there and dont rock the boat if you get what I mean

Good effort on getting the car here and jumping through the many, many hoops.

Ignore the nah-sayers here, most are from Queensland and Tasmania.

However, they are correct about your Drivers License, you will need to switch to a NSW drivers licence after 3 months of living here. It is very easy though as they simply issue you a NSW licence based on your US approval (for most cases).

My suggestion to go back was because of:
You all need to throw off the evil monarchy. Get that Queen off of your currency. I take it as a personal affront to have to use currency with the Queen on it. As an American feel free to ask me; I can show you how. We did it a few hundred years ago.
I'm not even a monarchist but your paragraph as a recent immigrant is simply rude. (And my family and my wife's family are both immigrant stock).

Really, if you don't like what's printed on our money and you don't like our form of government then it's best you go elsewhere.

Keep in mind that YOU introduced politics into the thread, not any of us.
