Yeah, there is a lift pump in the tank accessable from the fuel sender hole. the connecting hose that joins the lift pump to the outlet pipe can perish and cause fuel starvation probs also. If you have been running low fuel levels it certainly wont help the longevity of either lift or main pump ( specially if the tank has any internal corrosion from sitting long periods ) probably true for any fuel injected vehicle IMO.
The guy I previously used for my Kjet stuff retired last xmas.
I can get pumps ex UK that are better than the Bosch units, however it'll mean waiting about 10 days. otherwise try locals or
german auto parts.com
