Alternator Confusion - Need help!
Hey Guys,
My alternator has failed. Probably because I degreased the engine, but anyway, I need to get a replacement and I've been unable to find a part locally.
I've trawled through all of the parts sites, and it seems Rock Auto has plenty to choose from. Problem is, I'm not entirely sure which part to go for. I've contacted them directly, but they are pretty much no help. I guess because most of the parts are repro so they have no idea.
I'm pretty sure it's one of these two options:
1983 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 1.8L
KLARIUS/QUINTON HAZELL Part # 9033760 {#FRA102} FRIESEN; Voltage [V]: 14; Alternator Charge Current [A]: 55; Belt Pulley Ø [mm]: 65; Fastening Type: Single pivoted lever; Distance / Ø [mm]: 110; Reman
Hatchback, eng code [DX]; Convertible, eng codes [EX], [JH]
1983 VOLKSWAGEN RABBIT 1.8L
ACDELCO Part # 3211251 {#10463694} Reman; 55:AMPS; 55:AMPS
GENERATOR, BOSCH, IR(IC) & EF; REMANUFACTURED; w/o A/C
I have the DX engine in my cabriolet, hence I'm leaning towards the first one, but the current part is a Bosch 14v 55A alternator and looks just like the image on the left here (from the second part):

I can't tell what the first one looks like, although it could also be the same.

Anyone been through a similar process who can help?
Cheers,
Dan
