VW Golf track car coming along
Hi All most of you would have scene my golf in the forsale section, however I have decided to keep her as she is part of me. Since my last post about her she has undergone more major changes.
Stage 1 (Completed)
Originally the 2,0 engine was pushing out 110HP at the wheels running a dtml webber 32/34 down draft, 4 speed box, full weight reduction (interior including dash gone) only one seat in the car/RPM 5 point racing harness. OMP strut braces front and rear, top of fire wall removed to enable cold air to actually get to the carbie, Holden VP break package, Simmex racing tyres. Facet Electronic fuel pump - car runs on 98 pump fuel, SPAX Racing Springs.
Stage 2 (Completed)
In the last month I have upgraded the carbie to a webber 34/36 DGV this has allowed me to run E85 Fuel (75-80% Ethanol) it has also meant that I have had to replace all the fuel lines with EFI/E85 compliant hoses, upgrade my facet electronic fuel pump to a carter black racing special. I am playing around with jets as its very grumpy from 0-4000rpm. Now has Golf GTI Big Break conversion, with new discs and Bendix DB401 Pads. Complete Audi genuine leather interior, SAAS Racing gauges including tacho, water, air/fuel, volts, fuel, oil temp and water temp gauges. At the top end of the rev range it really opens up. and fire extinguisher.
(Testing is being done at Willobank Raceway Test and Tune nights. Ran a 16.00 flat with out reving to 4000rpm and without tuning) and hard tyres
Stage 3 (underway)
Custom aluminum intake box with 50mm outlet with custom polished stainless steel intake pipe around engine and down past water washer bottle to K&N air filter pod (already fabricated just needing polishing
front wheel arches flared (done)
Then onto
Dyno tuning is to be completed in the next few weeks and I am expecting around 140HP - 150HP at the front wheels
Once the car has run somewhere around the 10-13 Sec quarter mile mark then Stage 4 will start.
Stage 4 (before Christmas)
Installations of my 2.0 ADY Fuel injected engine, 300cc injectors, E85 Fuel, Microtech ecu, Fuel Cell, PWR Radiator, PWR Oil Cooler and braided lines (already purchased), silicon hoses, Coil overs, front and rear sway bar package, SC14 Supercharger.
With around 140+ HP plus 30-40% power increase with the super charger I should be sub 10's on the quarter mile, this will mean Advan semi slicks for the front to help with traction. (my aim will be for 180-200HP) and sub 10 sec quarter mile times.
I'm not bragging but wanted to share my build as its a massive learning curve and constant tuning issues however a fun journey and I 'm looking forward to really turning some heads and having some fun.
I am seeking feedback from those whom have been there before as your knowledge is key to getting this right. I would also like to let everyone know that the air box system is something that my fabricator is considering doing for a price however $$ will depend on what carbie you have as the base plate needs to be made for each type of carbie - the upside and after some testing is that it allows direct cold air induction (not cheap crap) in from the front of the engine picking air up from either GTI head light or from the space in the front of your bumper. (This will be marketed as a Mad Dog Racing Product along with some other goodies we a re developing including out own sway kit, E85 conversion kits, dry ice kits etc..
Let me know your thoughts if you have any advice feel free to PM or post me about it.
Pictures will be posted once the polishing has be done in the next few weeks and some vinyl work has been done to the car.
