    VDO Speedo???

Ok I gave up on the idea of having the standard Polo Gauges and I am going to do a custom VDO cluster.

Been on egauges.com and can find everything I need apart from a bloody KM/H Speedo in 4". Anyone got any ideas? Could I get the MPH Speedo and then get the background changed(but would have to look 100% perfect!!).

Not sure what you mean here Barry. You have fitted a Polo dash to a Mk1?

It might be better if you deal with a country that actually has metric speedos.

Thanks for the helpful reply Syncro, much appreciated.....

Andrew - I haven't fitted it yet but I have it sitting and will be sinking VDO Gauges in to the standard dash panel insert. I found a company in NZ that can get anything I want from VDO just they are a bit more expensive than abroad, hence I was asking about getting MPH speedo converted. I bit the bullet and have ordered a 300kmh one from them after a bit of searching around so hopefully it will all work out. Will post pics

    Andrew,

I have a fair few in the pipeline and will try and take some pictures as I go along but I always get carried away and forget hahaha.

Love your car, I work for VAG dealer here in NZ and I just LOVE the Mk5 GTi, I drove a 30th Edition on Firday and it is just perfect, I really can't see what else gives so much for the money. I have driven a good few R32's also and I honestly prefer the GTi and not just cause it's cheaper but if they were the same price I still would have the GTi I think, the R32 sounds nice and interior is nice but really I see no need for the 4wd(it's not like a GTi spins it's wheels everywhere is it ) and the V6 isn't as tractable as the FSI Turbo unit(especially chipped , just need to convince the missus hahaha.

My brothers P510 with a 13BT had an aftermarket VDO speedo/odo; it looked and worked great, but calibration is expensive and it's easy to wipe the settings if you hit the wrong button

    Get a STACK dash

Hey Barry, a 30th edition eh? They run the S3 Audi motor and so the extra power isn't an upgraded motor as was first thought. You lucky thing mate. Would love to see what they are like especially with a computer upgrade.
Not sure if Oz will see any.....

They run the standard Golf engine just with a software upgrade, it's not the full power the S3 runs, as that has different internals too.

I think a Stock GTi with upgrade(Revo/AMD etc) makes 260bhp or there abouts, which would make a GREAT daily drive.
