    Transplant engine mounts

I will be soon be doing a transplant on my Mk1, 02j box and a CBZ 1.2 TSi Motor

I am looking for engine mounts, I was thinking of making them (it will be solid mounted strictly for circuit) but it has been suggested that re-inventing the wheel is an expensive waste of time - kind of have to agree with that!

There seem to be quite a lot out there with hugely variable prices
Internet images are one thing but often don't give an idea on the pro's and cons of the different units. Indeed some of the pic's look the same and they are 50% more coin (and I suspect there ARE the same and one is reselling despite what they list)

Any suggestions and links for the guys who make the best quality for price balance. I don't mind paying fro quality, but don't want to get ripped off either.

Making your own from scratch is hell because of the endless measuring required. Getting a kit and modifying is way easier. Or getting 3 mounts and maybe just making the last one custom.

The cheapest mount kit you will find for the 02A/02J @@ VW Golf 1 Jetta Scirocco Seilzug Getriebehalter 02A Golf 1 G60 16V Turbo @@ | eBay. You can re-use the standard mk1 front mount onto the radiator support. This kit works fine. I had to tweak it a bit to get it to completely fit but not much. But you should strengthen the rear mount a bit which is not hard to do. This will save you many, many hours of custom fabrication.

As for the engine mount, these guys have some good mounts for conversions, a bit pricier, but not sure if any will work with a 1.2 motor Online Store - | Center Valley, PA | NLS Auto Performance Customization & Repair. You could make just that mount fully custom maybe.

That is a great link thank you (and thanks to google translate!) they look identical to some others I saw at E89 and others at USD130 (that NLS one looks better quality but $235)
Even if I just make the engine mount at least I will be in a better position with 2/3 done

For a whole bunch of reasons (mainly around time before a critical event) there is a little bit of a change to my car build and I will be going with a 1.8 20vT for the time being. The bonus of this is I hope to have a new race car out by November 2016 instead of what would have been 2017!

I already have my 02J mounts from my gearbox (from the advice above - thanks abreut) so it is just the front one.

I have just put a post in the WTB section but if people don't read it I may as well ask here as well
So, before I spend a couple of hours at the wreckers this weekend pulling one of these would anyone have a front Engine mount from a longitudinal mounted 20v motor (ie Audi A4 or Passat) they want to sell

If you're using a longitudinal block (A4 or passat), the standard mk1 drivers side mount bolts up and works. Best of just pulling it off the mk1 1600 motor that would have come out. You may need to take a grinder to the alternator mounts though.

For a transverse block, an aftermarket conversion mount is necessary.

    I read this:
Firstly, the Mk1 drivers side engine mount will need modifying to suit the 20v block. In addition, to make room for the mk1 mount the cam belt auto adjustment must be junked and replaced with a manual one from a 16v, spaced away from the block by 8mm to account for the extra overhang of the 20v pulleys. Please note that this only applies to 1.5-1.8l cars. Smaller engined cars will need the bracket on the chassis leg to be changed for the 1.5-1.8l type first.Another option is to use the engine from a longitudinally mounted car (Audi A4,A6 or VW Passat) since the Mk1 engine mount will bolt straight on....

And mis-read you use the Longitudinal mouth to make it fit, thinking the blot holes would be the same
    I have a FWD / AUM motor

    Saves one problem, creates another
Probably make one based on what I have seen
