Only just got home (It's 10:30 these long days are killing me)

I won't get a chance tonight to measure these up but they sure look like MK1 drive shafts to me.

    EMPI brand from GAP

That means they're just what I need then!
To GAP's website I go! Shame the postage is more than the driveshafts themselves >_<
    Ah well!
    Thanks Pete, legend!

    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

Had time to check them out today.

    Yep, they're MK1 all right.

Checked length and fitment into early hubs, All good. 90mm inners, check.

Interestingly the new long drive shaft is solid rather than hollow like the original.

I weighed them both and the new solid one is about 1kg heavier.

    Thanks Pete!
Is there much advantage do you think of having the solid axle? More so out of interests sake than anything else.

I'm not sure. I've never heard of a stock tubular one breaking. I guess it's just easier to manufacture them this way.

Maybe they're stiffer and don't twist up under load but I'd just be guessing.
