Question Is there any difference between driveshafts on a LHD and RHD?

    Hi guys!
Do any of you know if the driveshafts on a LHD Mk1 (in particular the US Rabbit) would have any differences compared to our own RHD Mk1's? I can't seem to find a feasible reason as to why they wouldn't fit, but I don't have the money to just order them and cop the loss if they are wrong! I've sent an e-mail to GAP about it but if anyone on here can chime in before then that would be great!
If anyone has ordered the whole driveshaft from within OZ as well could you tell me where you ordered them from? Might phone Camden GTI tomorrow and ask them as well..
    Thanks!

    Should be the same.

Just got to pick the right type.

    Early 90mm CVs
    Late/cabrio 100mm CVs

I have a pair arriving today, I'll let you know.

    Thanks Peter
If you could let me know that would be great, the guys at GAP didn't see why they would be different either, suspecting they where the same. I am sure to get the correct ones as well, 90mm for my little Golf
Buying an entire driveshaft seems a much better idea over replacing both CV's individually anyway, so hopefully they are the same!
    Thanks guys!

You just have to be careful with the driver side/passengers side that some sites list them as. Other list them as left and right.
I got a complete drive shaft from GAP the other day and was a little disappointed to find it was a refurb shaft not new as stated on the site and my invoice.

Didn't get them home today, I'll let you know when I do and pop up some photos.

I'll definitely have to keep an eye on that when they come if I do order them from GAP. Bit dodgy if they are selling only refurbs as new stock..

Thanks Pete! That will be really helpful if you could do that

Drive shafts are fine Byron but northern hemisphere diffs spin the other way, do you'd have 5 reverse and only 1 forward gear!

    haha mick
same length byron but alot of the u.s models used larger outer cvs which will not fit into your spindles without a bit of modification so just check that they're the same before ordering

Haha five reverse gears eh? Not sure if you're serious or not.. Too tired to be logical about it haha.

Yeah, they stated that they where 90mm which is what the early Mk1's where (please correct me if i'm wrong however). So it should be fine. Here's hoping anyway!
Looks like i'm getting that little bit closer to getting all the suspension/driveshafts in the Golf replaced!
    Weeeee!
