Just updating my list of things to do...

Refurb door cards (waiting on upholstery staples from the UK)
Custom intake pipe and breather diversion to catch can - Alex will sort it
Front tow hitch (76 models dont have one) - Alex will sort it
Further guard flaring/rolling so I can get some tuck - Alex will sort it
New and stiffer gearbox mount (install today)
New front and rear plastic bumpers (on route from UK)
Open single headlight grille - just need to pick it up from Brenton
    Replace passenger front window regulator
Paint some components under the hood (cam cover) to tidy it up a little
Possibly remove and replace the tints
And attend to all of the dash rattles/rear end klunk
    Finish polishing the winter wheels
285mm brake kit upgrade (funds permitting)
Front sway bar and mounting hardware (if I can find a second hand one otherwise new)
Need some 10mm hub-centric spacers for the rear (for the track)

Well spotted. It was actually to increase airflow. It dropped the operating temp by 5-8 degrees once removed. It's a 2/3 open grille, I've arranged a full open one which should help for everyday use but will remove it next time I track it I think.

nice mod with plenty of advantages, more air, cooler engine and less weight. I've got a full open 2 light grille i'm not using, you should have said and it could have been yours. I also drilled my front bumpers to line up with the lower valance holes and that has made a big difference

The thing I need to work out is a tow hitch as the 76 didnt have one.

So I seem to have a bit of oil under the car after the track day. Seems it's from the gear box seals on the driveshafts mainly. I'm reluctant to do it but maybe I'm going to need to do some overhauling soon. :/

Don't worry once the level drops below the seals they stop leaking. Sounds a bit dodgey but it's true.

Ha, but you know what they say, until you have done a job yourself you don't know how it has been done. I feel that I should not panic but plan to give it a once over some time soon.

Tow hitch is pretty straight forward mik, weld a piece of reinforcing plate to the outside of the main bumper bracket where the bolts screw into then heat and bend some good 6-10 mm steel rod and weld it onto your reinforced bumper support. That way you 1) don't have to weld onto your car and then repaint, 2) easy to work on as the bumper comes off for easy mod access 3) can be painted and hidden away with the risk of nasty overspray/metal slag damaging your nice paint.

Gearbox seals on the final drive are a piece of piss to do mate and if say you look on bus depot they cost a pittance. Just unbolt the inner shaft, remove the circlip to take off the drive shaft flange, pull out the old seal and install the new. I would recommend doing it because the oil gets into the CV's and washes all of the grease out and then if the boot fails out comes the oil all over your engine bay (and hot exhaust!!!!) and at worst your tyres whilst giving it stick on the race track.

I had one go on me whilst racing and it let off a massive cloud of smoke when it hit the hot exhaust, thought the engine was on fire. Was a massive P.I.A. to clean because hot thin oil went EVERYWHERE.

X2, one of my CV's (inner of course) was "dry" on the side closest to the seal.
The worst part of the job is finding that 12pointed star tool to take the CV/driveshaft off!
