injector pump is here from the states..

sorry about the lack of pics.. ill do a good write up when i get some photos.

by the way.. for anyone who doesnt browse the diesel forum, this little beast will be getting a 1Z 1.9 TDI in its belly.

Ill be ditching the electronic crap and going with the "M-tdi" option which uses the older mechnically controlled Bosch VE pump with some different parts which bring up the pressure to suit the TDI .

I bought an M-tdi ready pump straight from a pump-builder in the US. This should hopefullly get the 1Z running and then I cant play with pressures, governers and timing to get the car running how i want it.

just gotta find some time!!! arggh

cant wait for it to be still light when i get home again!! empty weekends are just too scarce!

    thanks for your patience!

    progress

ok... progress finally.. with pics to keep you forum junkies happy..

this is the 1Z in all its glory this morning.. after a bit of a tidy up and pulling off all that pesky electronic wiring

then good bye to the evil electronic controlled injector pump

this is the 1Z electronic pump on the left, and my rebuilt AAZ (indirect injection 1.9) pump on the right. The AAZ pump has TDI camplate and rotor in it, which makes it able to run higher TDI pressures, but without needing an ECU to run the pump, making this a so-called "M-TDI"

    fitting up the new pump

here is my cheapo chinese k04 turbo.. not sure if im gonna risk using it. Ive got some other options now as i have a 4 stud manifold from my 1.6 td which means i can use my k14 or T3.

thanks for the encouragement so far! Im keen but short on time. Can't wait to get this thing to make some noise.

good to hear you're making progress.

Not from experience or anything, but I'd steer clear of the chinese turbo's purely because it is what it is!

yeah if we kept up that rate. we would have done the whole build in a week.

sadly due to work and social lives, its still not done.

most of my time has been spent fixing up the engine. I have to get an engineer to check out the cage before I keep going with it, cos I don't want to put too much effort in, only to find I have to take to it with a grinder if I want to register it.

for the engine build details check out the thread in the diesel forum:
