I guess it was my own fault.... if I didn't get caught for speeding, none of this would have happened.... really stupid thing is I know that there are always speed cameras in that area, and I ALWAYS do the limit there... except this one time, was not paying enough attention to the speed I was doing. GRR. We all get speeding tickets though right? it just had a snowball effect on me! lol
yes it is a damn shame.. twas my daily car too so I now need to find another car for transport.... fail!

i feel your frustration mate that is pretty darn harsh IMO. And i don't think your fussing over nothing haha. Bit rude peoples reactions to this thread actually.. but whatevs..

I drive a big low and old school Merc as a daily, and i was pulled over for random car inspections 8 times whilst displaying my P plates.. Got all my gear out of the boat on my way to band practice one day to check my spare... so i was stuck in the middle of the west tamar highway with my gibson les paul, pedals and orange stack being hauled out of my boot by some tiny 50kg chick cop.. she doesn't know how maticulous my dad is with his cars.. hahaha couldn't see anything wrong other than apparently nnumber plates aren't allowed to have those plastic frames?? $130 fine apparently.. i got a warning for that hahaha she even checked my 13 y.o brothers (passenger at the time) school ID.... WHAT THE HECK WOMAN! Hahahaha!!

My fiance's dad was a cop for 16 years and is happy to admit that some officers he knew of would look for younger guys driving older cars and pull them over for inspection, cause 99% of the time they'd nip someone!

Oh and for the record, i love cops! Uncle was a cop for 37 years.. fiances dad.... fiances uncle is a big head honcho in NSW PD. Just saying some can be real A holes.

    I feel your pain!

PS- dear everyone, get off your soap boxes.. haha

    A month to fix everything!?

Thats heaps. Do what you have to do. second hand parts, borrow parts, go to the wreckers. A month is plenty of time, you just have to pull your thumb out.

the way i see it, you take the car off the road, the cop wins. you fix it back up, and keep on trucking, and you win! so fix it up!

or sell they car to me! hahah

I drove a silly low mk 1 for ages, and a really loud one for a while too, didn't ever get pulled over. why? cause I never sped in front of coppers! it's all about time and place. That, and my cars both looked (and for the most part were) 100% legal, and most importantly safe!

hey m8, no, it's usually a month, but he only gave me 2 weeks.... and I honestly can't see it possible to be able to get a hold of everything that I need within that time frame, and I also have a pretty tight budget too.. You give me motivation though saying "if you take the car off the road cop wins".. makes me want to keep it on the road even more.... because what happened was just really really frustrating... and yeah, like I've said, I hardly EVER speed especially in the zones where I know speed cameras are set up heaps... it just happened to be one of those moments when you realize you're doing a bit more than what you should be. I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about. doesn't happen often.

anyways... I'm still in two minds about "trying" to fix it up in time, or just "giving up"..... I do know of a mk1 golf that my friend is supposed to be lining up for me for a donor car, but I haven't heard anything back yet.. quite a slack person. really frustrating me, as it'd probably have everything I need. wreckers down here are pretty hopeless.... and parts.... Hmm, guess I'll make up my mind today if I'm going to bother or not.... I'd just REALLY hate to spend more money, and put heaps more effort and time into it, and then be turned down by the inspection.. I do however have a list (that I'm not meant to have) of the things they inspect if anyone needs this list, I can type it up for them, PM me for that.

    Tim.

thanks mate for backing me up a bit here. it is pretty harsh, considering the guy at the service tas (when I re-regoed the car) told me it'd be alright to put the plate on the dash until I had a chance to redrill some new holes as they don't line up.. I was a bit slack in getting it done, I'll admit that.. but the fact I told the cop this, AND the car was already booked in for the other things to be fixed... he had to slap me with a full roadworthiness inspection defect notice, not showing plates fine, regardless......

and I agree, there are some great cops out there who are really understanding... and cops that don't automatically assume that you're "doing the dodgey" and making up excuses.. as this is not what I was doing.. I knew about the problems and was going to have them fixed!

    Good work!

Although I can't see how it is too harsh a penalty (apart from only giving two weeks) I know what a traffic copper's goals are. One of my best mate's I went to Uni with is now a cop in the detectives dept, but had to do the traffic shifts as he worked his way up.

They all call traffic cops 'jellybacks' because they have no spine lol!

All they wanna do is write out their tickets and go home.

But get the car fixed, and don't give them anything to look at in future!!!

    Cheers,
    Wade

this is exactly the kinda treatment I got the other day lol.. wanted to write me out a ticket for everything under the sun.. usually cops are pretty cool but this guy was just nailing me for everything and refused to be understanding of the circumstances. most cops usually do take circumstances into account (I found in the past anyway) lol
