yeah, well.. I'm actually very honest person, and I'm mostly always doing the speed limit/doing the right thing by them. I never really do anything silly. I'm over all that ****. Just sucks that they automatically assume the worst. Guess they have to cos of all the real morons out there.

I follow the extremely nice, friendly and co-operative manner when I have to speak to a cop.

I got pulled over and defected for being too low.
Cop asks: "how many coils did you cut off the springs?"
    Me: "um, it's an MX5".

Ah well... I feel a bit better now after a vent.. still quite a depressing thing though after all the hard work and effort that has gone into it just to keep it on the road. It was pretty much a wreck when I first bought it. Has come a long way thx to me and a couple friends. Time for a build

Sorry to hear mate, something like this would get me very frustrated. Plus I also know my car would need work to get it fixed up for a re-roadworthy too. Nice to know that there will be another Mk1 project down here though.

By the way were you driving through North Hobart recently? Got a wave from a fellow Mk1 driver and the car looked very much like yours, I was in my beige Mk1.

don't own a drill, and never got around to borrowing one. been so busy with work, girlfriend, etc. I know I know, 2 minute job right... I was just slack and forgot about it I guess, and didn't realize how much of a big deal it was.... $110 fine for that alone... sheesh. anyway.... regardless of that, he still would have pinned the "full roadworthy inspection" on me, so would have been stuffed either way lol

Yeah not many really, especially in Hobart. Get going on yours so it's up and running again soon! Love your car though, plus being a swallowtail is very cool!

Thanks mate, got Koni ajdustable coilovers on mine and Intra wheels which are apparently pretty rare? Guess the main difference would be the Seat Ibiza GTI engine (same as Mk3 GTI engine) and 5spd gearbox. Working on it all the time though, heaps of fun. Hopefully re-spraying soon, wouldn't mind white as well - reckon it looks really clean on a Mk1.

As far as I know, In VIC, the rego plate needs to be visible 45˚ either side of the front of the car from a certain distance, and at a particular elevation from the road (something like 15˚ or 20˚).
Seems in the picture you posted that would be pretty close.

But I suppose you can't argue it with them. Damn shame that it's gonna stuff it up for you so much. My issues have been easily fixable.
PMing you with a little info...
