Oil cooler sandwich plate? other than GTI one

Any one using a non original oil cooler sandwich plate on a mk1... if so where did you score it. speco have a range but nothing listed on the web for VW.

i read somewhere some one suggested a universal sandwich plate/adapter... how is that possible? wouldn't it have to be engine specific?

    cheers,
    Mike

Mocal make sandwich plates which screw onto your filter housing. They are thermostatic and only open at 80 degress there about 140 from MSCN.com.au in Seven hills. I have one on my mk2 and its mint.

    take off plates

Don't fit one without a thermostat. I got a kit from Think for my G60, a fantastic improvement on the standard VW set up.

I`m pretty sure there is a sandwich plate that fits a beetle or kombi that you can buy new from Vintage VW at Campsie that will fit straight onto the Golf.

Just a word to the wise...

Buy a kit if you can. The hose and fittings can end up costing more than the cooler and adaptor.
