Yes I can confirm that is a B1 passat interior in that photo
does anyone here have experience with steering wheels on mk 1's and fitting after market ones??
Does anyone know what will fit, what can be made to fit or what doesn't work at all?
I want a TS Passat wheel, but they don't come round very often, so I was thinking something like this:
(e. Nardi one)
or
(i can't remeber now if that is the passat one or not )
edit: on second thought, they may even be the same type of nardi wheel??
Any help is always appreciated!

Um, that's a American Rabbit interior.
I hope you've got some spare coin if you want a Nardi steering wheel Jarred.
Aftermarket wheel's can be fitted, providing you get the right steering boss.
Just need to clarify alittle better as to what.
i like this one
I've seen a few nardi wheels for a couple hundie on ebay, it's possible they are fakers, but i'm not sure. Genuine ones off old jags and MG's etc are right up there..
I always tend to get lost when it comes to the steering wheel boss! What's involved in one? I've seen a few websites with Boss's for sale, but never know which one to go for! How hard is it to turn up a Boss if i can get access to a lathe/mill?
What are my other options for steering wheels then? what wheels do you fellas have on your mk 1's?
Unless your a machining wizard that can not only cut a cylinder with the right PCD, but also a internal splined shaft, then go for it.
Even if you could, it would still be cheaper just to buy one.
Find a steering wheel you like, then ask for a steering wheel boss kit to suit.
The last boss kit I brought cost me $45, & that was a very long time ago. They should still be around the same cost, if not cheaper with such a large aftermarket.
ohright then. Skip doing it myself then!
Are there specific Boss for each vdubs? or are there generic bosses I should look for?
alrighty. Monday - research time again.
Cheers Tim
Have a look an Trademe.co.nz. There are usually a few woodgrain nardi's on there, albeit contemporary ones from Japan, but they are still the genuine article made to the same design etc. It seems they are very popular in Japan (particularly on 4wd's) and a lot of them are removed from imports at compliance time to refit the factory airbag wheels to comply with impact rules.
If you find one but the seller won't send it to Oz let me know and i might be able to help out.
