Is a standard 1976 5 door golf an LS?

If it is not an LS what would it be?

I am pretty sure my car is not a GLS. It is not a Diesel so it is not GLD.

Let me know if referring to her as an LS is correct!

    Ta.

I think it's still an LS. I have seen and/or heard of LS '76 5 doors.

I might be wrong, but I get the feeling that the GLS badge began with the arrive of German made golfs in whatever year that was ('77/'78?).

What is the difference between a GLS and an LS?? (I'm guessing GLS is Grand Luxury Sport and LS is Luxury Sport????????)

Golf N's were 1.1 litre from memory!
GLS were German built and all the Aussie assembled Golfs were LS models built in the old VW factory at Clayton in Vic. 1976 only. Nissan took over the place in 76 as well so it wasnt unusual to see the 2 brands being assembled in the same sections, the Dulux paint colours were shared between the 2 makes as well.
I think HRT and HSV are in the old factory these days, correct me if I am wrong

I'm pretty sure the best way to find out for sure (if you're really unsure with the badges) is like Andrew mentioned, all the aussie ones have dulux paint codes I believe.

Yep, I had a dulux paint code - until I painted over it on the weekend
