Get a gun onto it and see how it goes. If its over fuelling rev it and check for black smoke, easy tell tail sign

    good luck, nearly there!
No black smoke....anymore and it doesnt smell rich. With the old carbie the whole court would fog up.

Im realy hoping its not warped.

The carbie that is on there now is a 32/36 but it is stamped as motocraft, looks like a webber and ive been told it the same thing.

As far as i can tell it over fueling, the spark plugs come out black and it sometimes continues running for a few seconds when you switch it off, im hoping its because of the leak. I was told it was recently re-jeted to suit a 1.8.

I know dude, i know....but the sterio needs to be heard too. I really didn't expect it to be so loud inside.
might be the jets are flogged or too big for the engine. One old Solex single throat I had years ago used so much fuel that it was cheaper to drive a V8.

    Persistence mate.

Absolutely love this project! Very neat and clean. That engine bay is amazing.

Its been recently rejetted to suit a 1.8. I remember the 1.6 it had in there before used to do less than 300k on 40L haha.

Cheers mate. Im actualy suprise at how many people like it, makes me feel special lol

A bit of news. New gaskets arrived the other day, i havnt had a chance to fit them and i dont think i will be doing much to the car till next week as im having an operation done on my foot. The gasket maker has set and it has worked a fair bit to seal off the leaks, it will idel at 1000rpm now, but not smoothly.
I have also, through a few favours, aquired 2 more pairs of splits and prity good ones at that and im toying with the idea of running 8 speakers in it after DOVW. I realy want to have a go at making stuff out of fiber glass. Dont worry it wont look like a autosalon car, I would like to keep it looking like its factory and not forced.

8 SPEAKERS !?!?! haha, are we talking 6 inch and 6x9 speakers only, or the whole package including subs as well? Remember that if you do fibreglass, sometimes it becomes really heavy, and from my experience at school is very hard to calculate the exact volume if you want to be extremely accurate.

But i like where this is heading, sound system is a must mate!!

It will be 3 pairs of splits, 1 pair of coaxials, the monster in the boot, 3 amps and a second battery. Im not to worried about the volume of the enclosure for the speakers as its a bit harder to work out and the speakers arnt $1000+ units.

I finally put it on the ground and drove it. It pulls really well but:
    - still need to change the gasket for the carbie
    - brakes don't work, air in the lines
    - gears need to be aligned...again, they are all over the place at different times
    - exhaust it waaaaay to loud inside and out and the extractors are touching the car so it vibrates the cabin.

I also bought 4 pairs of matching speakers and finished cleaning up the engine bay, all it needs is a polish.

    Ill have pics tomorrow.
