Where did you get the rubber gasket stuff from? I only ever go to autobarn so i have no idea but i think it would be ideal over the paper stuff.

Just like 1.5mm neoprene rubber from Clark Rubber. Not like it's a vital gasket like a head gasket. Just needs to be air and fuel tight, right?

Carefull you dont suck silicone into the carby mate, that will stuff it right up.
If the carby is a webber it is proablly a generic webber gasket. Draw a template of what you want and take it to a proper old school car shop. You will probably find that its the same as the gasket on an old escort, or holden, or something with a webber and thats what you need to order. Sounds like you are getting close mate, keep at it.

    ****ed up prity hard today.

I went and got some gasket maker and while taking the carbie off a nut or washer fell in to the manifold. I didn't notice until i put everything back together and started the car. It made its way past the valves and in to the block smashing the spark plug in cylinder 1.

One step forward and two large steps back. Stupid cars.
