what will be some usefull tips on a good engine service for a 16v , need some info before i pick it up , oil grade ? spark plugs ...ect
Going to be getting a 4 hour bus ride from perth to a country town called kojanup . around 400klm !!!! all major highway , im hopin for a trouble free ride back to the city !!
4 hours up, 2 hours back. Shouldn't be any problems (but carry a tool kit, fan belt, spare plugs, dizzy cap, radiator repair kit and lots of Wagon Wheels or Tim Tams).
Can't do a long drive without chocky biscuits.
And congrats on the find. 16v in a MK1 is such a sweet ride.

20W50 is what you want.
Make sure the oil to water cooler is not leaking internally. I am not sure how often Frank has run this car but the cooler ended up leaking some time ago ( water in the oil etc) From memory Frank changed the cooler and flushed the engine oilways and cooling system.
As long as the basics are right you will get home fine.
Engine pic of car.. Taken in Dec 2007
Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...
If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
Cheers,
Grant...
cheers for the pic grant !!! im going to take the toyota fj75 for a run with a car trailer on the safe side , but mite be tempted to have a spin half way home !!! will be asking frank about the cooler ! he hasnt been running it for the last 3month , its been in dry storage......
apparently ... i just spoke to the owner , he says he has bypassed the the oil cooler ? would this be ok ? is there a variety of oil coolers that will suit , or go with a vw type ....
