get the mk2 and ill buy the wheels off you.
Coming up to my 21st and i need to sink my teeth into a project.
Mk1 possibly 2 if its super clean. There are a couple on the market between 2-3k was wondering what you guys think.
Might go take a closer look, do a compression test and check the rust patches if you fellow worshippers think theyre worth it.
1st is this mk1 1.8 GLS saying that its a GTI which is a first concern as he claims to run a workshop.
He's fixed the carbs and is saying its not running due to intake gaskets being ****ed.. something i just dont believe about that, agreed it would run like a bag of ****.. but it would run. thinking there is more to the equation.1979 mk1 golf | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia New South Wales - Sydney Region | 1026167959
Don't really believe its worth 2k, maybe 1500..
2nd is a 3door, guy seems to have done quite alot to it by the description, not too sure about the colour. Idle playing up but something i can fix, alongside the gear selector adjustment im sure. However he says the cluster dosen't work? Kinda confuses me, in the pics the tacho and speedo seem to be functional.. Really clueless on the complexity of the wiring in these things, im set mechanically but electrically it can all be abit daunting. think the car is worth what he's asking would flick him 2500 potentially if you guys think that the wiring problems could be sorted out without too much of a headache. 1978 Volkswagen Golf Coupe | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Liverpool Area - Cecil Hills | 1025582912
Last but not least is a mk2 which looks hot! bit higher price and seems to be pretty well looked after and had a decent amount fixed. Ill let you guys make the comparison and decide what you think.1990 Volkswagen Golf Hatchback | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Manly Area - North Manly | 1027171066

Both mk1s are rubbish don't even bother looking. the mk2 looks like a good buy,the cars on the road are chalk and cheese.
