    shattered

    gday all,

today in my last minute preparations for the tassie meet tomorrow, my step dad and i took my mk1 golf for a long drive, we left my house went down to margate and through sand fly on our way to hounville, on the way through sand fly my step dad said there is some wrong with the brakes we turned in to the sand fly fire station and stopped at a slow ish rate, he almost put his foot through the floor, we kept on going the car took the roads nicely but it still wasnt right, we got home had a look and a play, we cant find whats wrong, every thing is how it should be running we have replaced the rear drum cylinders, there working fine, the master cylinder is working fine, all the lines are fine, its got us floored as to what it is.
so for me my mk1 golf will be a no show at the meet, im coming up with my mum for a look and a chat, but im shattered that all the work iv put in to her its done this.

    cheers Ethan

How long since you've replaced the brake fluid? After a couple of years the fluid can go off because it's absorbed some water vapour. Your brakes will still work but it takes a lot more pedal travel to stop the car.

Change fluid and make sure its bleed properly.
Also check the Line from Booster to manifold. Mine was cracked. replaced it yesty and the pedal is a little firmer to push.

Was a bugger you didnt make it in the mark 1, but next time aye !!!
