Look at your seat. It doesnt have conventional rails. To fit a race seat, you need to make up some sort of bracket to fit into the existing seat rails, or drill holes in the floor. Good luck with getting that past rego.

im only gonna use it for race days
it has nothing to do with the street and rego
not everything that i put on a car has to be roadworthy... and for street and race use... y cant i put a race part in for a race and a street part in for street use?? i didnt intend on rocking up and getting booked for soomething i already know is illegal on the street.. im not dumb
sorry if this offends but i dont have to give an explination of y i am putting a race seat in!

does anyone know the dimentions?? and will the measurements fit the ones i have provided?

Go take a seat out of your car, or read a haynes manual.

This is what most people do -> see the twin box section rails, which rules out ever running a stock seat again:

Despite what Loon says, there are a few companies that make proper sliding subframes for Mk1 Golfs. Konig is at least one of them, available from TCCA Motorsport in Sydney.

Have fun paying about $3000 to get one seat bolted in, though.

There's a lot more you can do to make your car quicker than buying a race seat anyway

EDIT: And DON'T drill holes in the floor as it's not strong enough :!:

Here is a purpose built seatbase that you could bolt your race seat to.
A skilled bloke could make one for you, or as ausgolfer says, expect to pay big bucks for one

Yeah don't use a cabriolet to start with.
