They look good.. But do they stop?? Probably not
Anyway they'll do for now.
Just a little tip when putting pistons back in the calipers:
Put the piston seal in, get some brake fluid and smear a little around the seal and the piston bore (wear gloves). When you put the piston in, it needs a bit of lube to help it in. Line the piston up and push it in, may help with a bit of wooden leverage or a small mallet. Don't go wacking it!!! Then put the dust seal in place... And done

nice! Good to see some new hoses as well
So finally got to bleed the brakes and give her a test run. Brakes were terrible!!! Felt like it had no booster, sure enough it had packed it in.
I know at this point i should just get gti brakes, but im interested to see how the old 5c piece size pads go. So a mk3 booster and MC is on its way from Camden GTI.
As for everything else I can think of.... DONE!!
And a change of plans has occurred.
My mums mk4 recently was written off (ran into the back of by a 1 tonne ute). So she asked i she could drive it. why not? At least the car will get used more, so I'm in the process of changing a few things to make it more 'mum worthy'.
Wheels, steering wheel, eventually get some softer shocks - speaking of which, anyone got any good shocks and springs???
Anyway she's very excited to be able to get to drive this, more so than any other new car. Which is hilarious, coz she ain't no car fan!
A recent shot of the bay, heaps cleaner and neater than before!!
I like this car a lot, especially the colour. Engine bay looks much better too. Good work!
new member of the family arrived today!!
2dr swallowtail
been searching for a project one for about 2 years, then jarred wanted to sell, so i snapped her up.
plans, well i'd love to do a ground up, 2.0 16V, webers, as road legal race as i see fit. but thats all the fiddly stuff, just gotta get the body done first. when i start the car ill pop a thread up
which means, i'm likely to sell this light blue 4dr swallowtail in a few years.
It's been a while and I've been a bit slack lately.
Been gathering up a few bits and prepping for painting. So today I managed to get them painted.
Items are:
Mk3 booster, radiator fan cowling, front strut housings, top hats and carby inlet.
Got quite a cool collection of cars now! Good work. Can't wait to see what you do with them.
