Safety bonnet catch????

I read somewhere that some mk1 golf's were fitted with a rear safety catch for a certain type golf model! (something to do with Rally edition or something to stop the bonnet flying up at high speed).

Is this somewhat true or was i told a lie?

some did have hooks on the hinges and would lock into a little tab in rain tray when closed,

not all have them though, and being a Rally edition i doubt it

probably could have cleaned it abit b4 the photo lol! these are what i mean just heard they were only fitted the the VW ralley and wondered why they were on my rabbit
