    The Roof Rack Thread

So ive been drawing up the idea of making up some roof racks for our Mk1's seeing as they pretty hard to find, and usually very pricey.

I have got hold of the following Rack, i believe its a universal one for VW's as the 4 legs are width adjusted to suit many cars.

Yes it sits as high as a high rise building but a good 4" drop on the mounts would look much better.

Would anyone be Keen on getting some made up? Im going to sus out some Prices on people to bend, weld ect. price of materials blah blah.. Any input on these would be great.

Am also considering this design aswell, but guessing it would be a little more to make.

yeah they look pretty high... I want one as low as possible.. it's mostly for a 10' longboard.

    how about copying this one?

    i love it most

    Love that Pic Mik!!

Yeah i want them to be low, not sure on final finish yet,

that one does look good Cheesey, but im trying to keep it simple, less bends and welds, so any joe blow can afford to buy one.
I wouldnt be asking much more then the material and time. Just wanna see more available local
Was thinking on getting a bunch made up, just in the raw finish, and then buyer can either polish them up, powdercoat ect.
Was also thinking on getting all the pieces bent up and cut and numbered all ready to box up and ship aus wide and you get a local to weld it up, or if your handy with a welder then awesome.

Would people be more interested in the kit form? cause a full assembled one will cost a packet to Ship, Ive chucked mine on e-go.com and i got a quote for $240 from TAS to QLD for example :O :O
