    Roof Rack Inspiration.

    a hoy hoy.

    I'm looking for some inspiration for some roof racks.

    Both different styles of roof racks as well as different things ya got on 'em!

    Good luck finding one of those style racks, they are rare in the US. Custom made is the only way to go unfortunately even then it wont be cheap. I did have a pic of a thule one installed on a mk1 and mk2 but my hdd went kapuuuuttt so i cant add anything.

    growing up my old man always ran roof racks on the mk1's(n mk2 n mk3) bikes surfboards rods all sorts will see if i can find some period footage

    Man what i hav seen people do is get to standard older style multi fit racks and lower those and cut of the ends so it will only fit a Mk1... Then build a box style with the hooped sides etc... Wooden slats for more stylin' points

    I'm not entiirely sure whether to do a surfboard or something, or the old bag and jerry can thing..

    That will decide what rack I build basically.

    Jarred, what style were you after? The one pictured second from top is the style I'm after and its on my to do list (DIY). Shouldnt be that difficult, will have to find a welder to do it though. Anyone got any handy links from other sites (possible DIY articles)?
