Hey Guys,

Seems there is something wrong with my mk1 carby, now when it stopped everything is fine but when you start the car and press down on pedal, everything else works fine except the bigger throttle arm near the choke seem to seize open and won't return, big spring is still attached and everything returning normal exept that arm, and only when the car is started (not when ignition is off) in saying that once it's stuck it takes "some persuding" to get back to normal.

Hope sombody can shed some light, i'm sure its a common problem.

By a kit you mean new needle and stuff don't you. How much does this cost and who do you think could do it for me in Lonnie.

Hahahaha, yer only just round the corner. Wouldn't have a spare carby laying about in you VW emporium would ya man?? hahaha. Maybe a weber or know anyoune that's got one goin cheep .

lol. nope no spare carbies, ...cept 2 off suzuki sierras.
but what u said on MSN about it all moving freely and working when the motor off...then it does it when the motor is on makes me think its a choke issue...some how the choke is jamming or somethings come adrift.
like i said, try unpluging the solinoid n see what happens.....


Anyone else got any ideas?????

actually no...derr me, unpluging the solinoid will make the choke stay on .... maybe a vacuum line off or worn...
take the air cleaner off and dissconnect the choke linkage for now i recon..
if that doesnt work start taking vacuum lines off and plug em with screws

Ur a genuis Benny, Kinda. hahaha. It turns out with all my questionable wiring issues the power wire to the soleniod wasn't getting power, had a bit of a muck around and it works again. YAY!!!. While i was at it i figured out my choke was buggered and staying on all the time so THATS why it's been running like **** and using **** loads of juice. So puttputt is restored to is formed "glorious" self. hahahaha. SUPERTRENDY!!!
