how much was it going for?
My Thanks go to the boys who suggested Main Roads Vehicle Inspections!
My conversation went a little like this:
Me: So mate, Interested in your golf, what's it like?
Him: Sweet man sweet. Only a little scratch on bumper but that's it.
Me: How would you rate it out of 10?
Him: Man it's a 9 outta 10, a real sweet ride.
Blah blah blah and so it went on......
Here are some pics and I'd like to also mention the report telling me it was probably an Insurance write off from another state, the head gasket was about to go bang and it failed 120 out of 220 standard tests they conduct.
I know a 1991 Mk I golf isn't supposed to be perfect but Jeez this a skip on 4 (or probably 3) wheels.
I'll post some photo's if someone can tell me how.....
how much was it going for?

Well done for getting checks on the the car BEFORE purchase. Shame the car is a little tired. Plenty more around.
I remember checking out a red 90's Cabriolet, that was described as a bargain about 4 years ago. As soon as I saw the one steel rim and three alloys and mouldy carpet, I knew I was not going to buy it. However both salesmen came over and insisted I take it for a test drive. They had friends that had one of these cars and it never let them down!
(I meet a few salespeople that used that line - I don't see how it would make anyone purchase, because someones brother/sister owns the same type of car?)
Of course the battery was dead, they quickly jump started the car, while showing me the full service history (Mainly overheating issues!) The car ran badly - no power so I had to press down harder on the excelerator to keep it running and moving. It then stuck in the down position. In with the clutch while watching the rev counter move into the red zone - while turning the key off to stop the thing. I refused to drive it back to the sales-yard. The sales guy had just a much trouble driving it back and said "I thought it was your driving that was making run so bad!" They promised to fix everything and drop the price ($7500 I think from memory) I just walked away.
Good luck with next Cabby encounter!
Michael
no wonder why I wasn't getting answers.............the car went for like $1,500 off ebay.............what more could you expect?
maybe a good buy for someone who doesn't mind a few fixes.
