The first link you sent me.....What do you think about it? New roof of course but how do you rate it otherwise?
I reckon the white one looks like an honest car.
Hard to say from a picture tho.

I have not sighted the car in the first link, but I have seen the second red cabby. (It's red - not the orange colour it appears in the photo). Don't dismiss this one, unless you don't like the colour.

It looks very much original, even down to the radiator cards (I have never seen a car with them). The roof will need replacement soon, the interior (light blue) and carpets although very dirty, are sound. Rear seat has lap/sash seat-belts. The drivers seat bolsters are just starting to show wear, no holes yet. Top of drivers side door trim is starting to warp and a bubble is appearing in the vinyl trim on the knee bar. Outside the car is missing the L.F. side trim which is NLA. also missing is the rear number plate black trim piece. The Clipper trim is OK and still has the stone protection plastic on them, again NLA, which means the sides of the car may never have been damaged. The roof motor looks like it's been "played" with, so it may not work (I didn't try the roof). The engine looks all standard with new radiator hoses and tidy wiring. As the car wasn't what I was after, I didn't start the car or hear it running.

It comes across as a one or two owner vehicle that has been well kept and used as a trade-in, and dumped on a car yard that really doesn't want it. It's been on the yard for a while so I'm sure they would drop the price.

    Worth a look.

    Thanks very much Michael,

    Any idea on the KM's?

What's it worth in your opinion? How come you didn't like it?

    Where is the vehicle based?

I appreciate your assistance mate, really do.

    Km's about 170,000

I feel price is about right, However no rego, and it's as is where is. I think they may lower the price to move it of the lot.

I didn't purchase due to the interior colour. I am after one with the "Sahara beige" interior trim, I thought as this car is only 13 builds away from mine it may have the same trim. The plan was to replace worn trim and parts in my car with items that are in better condition. Then sell the red car through the auctions. Evil I know...

Car is located at "All State Motors?" 316 Lower Dandenong Rd. Dandenong Melbourne. near Moorabbin Airport.

I thought the best points about the car are that it's so original and unmolested. Great starting base. Be warned it's 16 years old, so it WILL need money spent on it.

Please note : I did not start, drive or hear the car running!

Have emailed the garage to check availability and also gave them a bell but no answer. I checked their actual website to find it not listed, can only assume it's been moved on. Shame really as looking for something genuine.

If I do hear back from them, don't worry I won't hold you to your assessment, I'm really grateful for your knowledge and assistance!

Thanks for this. I'm pretty happy to get a cheapie, I've priced the cost of a brand new roof and not at all concerned about replacing this. After something straight body work wise, mechanically happy to do work....

I think the bodywork on the white one needs some serious attention, and not wanting to do this part. Engine yes, roof yes, bodywork etc no.

I'd be grateful if you can let me know the details of the sydders cars...

    Thanks V Much.

I know where there is an imported 1980 GTI Cabriolet. Its black, has a heron motor and I think a new roof. It was resprayed and had all the rust cut out a couple of years ago. Looks nice, but interior is tired. Dash is the early one and is buggered and seats have been retrimmed and are now fading. I`d just get a late model interior for it and make it schmick. Goes great though. I think the guy wants $3000-$4000, he`d negotiate.

The onther one is a red one that was converted to carby after an engine fire, interir is nice and it has all the clipper kit etc, but its auto, similar money. The owner is old, so no pics, but I can talk to him for you or hook you up with his number if you like.

Found some pics of the black one, taken last year.
