Do you have the link to this? the black plate behind the door handles, are they just off a mk3? also any idea if the paints a VW colour

no they're a mk 1 thing. believe it or not, but its a security feature, meant to stop theives levering behind the handle to brake into the car. Mk 3 handles are completely different. I'm sure a place like quiffs would have still sell them.

I watched a british documentary where they restored and mk1, and the dude mentioned it there. Funny i've never seen the black plate on a mk1 before? Hard to install..?
