    radiator support panel

is the panel all 1 piece, including the bottom brace which has the engine mount mounting bracket attached and goes under the chassis rails? this one has several large cracks which have been attempted to be repaired with no success. i guess it is welded in, making it a horrible job to replace, if this assembly is available!

On one of my old MK1's I welded a new piece over the panel. Mine was rusted so I made a piece about 20cm x 10cm that covered the rusty section. No reason why you couldn't do the same.

An alternative is to unstitch the complete front end and weld in a new (2nd hand) panel, including grill and headlight. Depends on how much damage you have.

Nick at Volksparts in Bungendore (0412345126) has over 50 MK1's rusting away on his property, including a couple of Cabbys that might be good for spares if you have any trouble locating anything local.

good idea paul, i might try and plate it first, nothing to lose. there appears to be a lot of flexing on that bottom part, obviously with the cracks, so i wonder why it cracked in the first place?
volksparts, weren't they in whyalla st. for many years? i'll be down in a couple of months, so i might start a shopping list
    cheers
