    radiator fan failure..

    finally the fan is gone..

    mechanic says can't rebuild the fan..

    and need to replace with new one..

    anyone know the part number or where i can find it?

    1976 golf mk1 1600cc carby model..

    please help me..

    it will obviously mean making/modifying brackets as well as the electrical connection, but you can buy them from auto part shops(davies craig is one brand). you could use a second hand one from any other type of car, they all do the same thing. have you tried any of the wreckers for a proper vw one?

    For the best efficiency you're going to need one with a shroud around it so it sucks air only through the radiator and not from around the edges of the fan. You live in a slightly warmer climate than me so keeping your car cool is really important.

    If you get a Davies Craig fan or similar get the biggest one that will fit or get 2 smaller ones. Make sure they come with a shroud or mount them so they almost touch the radiator - about 5mm is OK.

    Alternatively find one the same size of your current one and make some brackets so it fits the same as your old fan.
