Thanks George. I've had a fair amount of inspiration from your efforts!
It's been far too long, I repent!!
I'll start by uploading some progress pictures!
My new toy
Parts car which i got for $100 has all the bits of chrome trim I need and much better rubbers and loads of other little bits and pieces.. How cool is that intake thing on the bonnet. I've never seen one before in my travels..
Now onto the project at hand,
One dirty bay;
Almost clean
Stripped
This is the first time I've ever done anything like this so it has been a little daunting at times, but it's coming together pretty quickly now, when I make plans and get to work on my check lists..
Prepping panels & getting them straight, what an art. I probably laid down 4-5 layers of bog before I got a panel even, but improved really quickly..
So much of this...
Last but not least fairly clean looking engine
I'm still yet to purchase paint top coat, using acrylic lacquer though possibly with a clear.. and I want to paint the block at some stage too.
That's it for now, going to keep this updated much more often with more details in the coming weeks, body is almost ready for bog/sealer/primer so much grinding and sanding has already been done.
Cheers

Looking good mate
Great to see another local MK1 getting fixed. Makes me miss mine even more.
Saw a sweet looking one in Fyshwick on Friday - low and with some nice wheels - yours?
Cheers
Paul
Don't think so, it's gone now.. Sold it to get the T5
Thanks mate, getting there.. Can't wait to get the body all primed up.. Job seems to get bigger and bigger then more work I do!
Thanks Paul. Doubtfully mine, as mine's in a million pieces currently.. But is this the one you're talking about?
That looks like it. I only saw it from behind but it was low, had roof racks and wide wheels.
Nice looking Golf.
