    Pre blueslip hot tips?

So I think I'm pretty much ready to finally register the mk1.

Can anyone suggest things I should check before taking it somewhere?
    Tyres are good.
    Lights are all good.
Plenty of meat on the front brakes. Will they check the rears?
    Wipers work
I need a new horn (or wiring) but I'll sort that
my interior mirror is crumbling to bits should I replace that before going?

What am I forgetting? Lots I'm sure

    Worn rubbers
    everything has to work,
    No oil leaks
    not too low
    ect ect

ITs pretty basic, just cean it up as much as you can, take it in and see what happens. they will let you know whats wrong with it.

When i did the corolla i had no idea, so i just took it in straight after it was bought, things i thought needed fixing didnt, and stuff i thought was ok wasnt haha.

Just make sure it looks clean and tidy. My car failed when it was dirty and passed when it was clean!

Also get recommendations from people of who to take it to/get it done by. The first bloke who looked at mine pulled it up on having worn front discs, which weren't and stupid things like a window winder missing. So its a bit of luck too as to whether they like the 'look' of the car.

    Good luck.

I find having a car that looks really clean & is presentable helps alot!

Basically, to an inspector - if your car looks like a piece of soot, well then, it is as far as they're concerned, and then they wont want to pass it, (cause it could look bad for them) and they'll poke around more.

If the car is clean and presentable it goes along was in my opinion! As well as having everything working well. Bleed the brakes too, so the feel is nice and strong (since mk 1's std brakes aren't it's strong point at this age)

I normally throw in a gimme or two. like a blown globe or something small.

    good luck with it all!

Make sure all the lights work and the brakes are operational. Clean it, put good tyres on, then take it in and say a prayer.

i'm toying with the idea of mounting these small led indicators i have on the front rather than fitting the bumper. do you reckon that's asking for trouble? they're bright as, and measure about 5x3 cm

just trying to avoid forking out for bumper to be straightened, as i need that moneys to go towards damn expnsive nsw rego!

your bumper does not need to be straight, as long as it is there and the indicators work your fine. once you have passed you can do that.
