Does anyone know what the best power rack is to adapt to a mk1 manual?
I'm thinking of getting a mk3 set-up and i want to know if it can fit reasonably easily.
I know the linkage brackets are different but i can weld the old ones back on it.
Anyway, if anyone has done it, any advice would be great.

That was the plan, i've got a spare mk1 rack and i wanted to see if the rack less the arms was the same length and the streering column fit Etc. I know of one other guy doing it to a mk1, but i'm not sure if the lines interfere with the gear linkage
A golf 2 rack will fit with a bit of fiddling but the biggest hassle is mounting the gearshift brackets, or put in an auto or cable shift.

Not an Auto, but a cable shift Mk3 box would be the go.Originally Posted by aprr32

its not for me, its so my woman can drive it too, the car has 15 X 7's on it with a small momo wheel, so when she tries to turn the car when its stationary, she struggles a lot.

Advise you turf the silly steering wheel and 7 inch wheels.
I've had to do that for a female owner before ,cabs seem to be heavier than early LS's.I put 14 inch wheels,185/60 tyres and late Mk1 GTi steering wheel and a good wheel alignment. It was a vast improvement but still not like PS.
The closest thing would be a LHD 944/924 rack.Notice I said LH
good luck
