i found a US retailer for golf parts (http://www.parts4vws.com/catalog/pro...mber=22%2D2008)
and specifically this complete mk1 bushing kit. its pretty cheap at $90 US and i'm keen to get one... trouble is, airfreight to aus is about $90. given the pakage isnt bulky or heavy, i though it might be worthwhile to arrange a group buy of some of these sets or even just parts from this place to cut down on shipping costs.
as far as the bushing kit goes, i've got 3 highly interested parties including myself at the moment.
anyone else need some bushings? the more... the cheaper.

Ummm, you can get similar poly bushes for MK I at Supercheap auto!

Having used all those bushes in the past. I have to warm you guys that the poly front mount transmits and unholy amount of vibration into the car.
The rear one is a good fit for monster engine mk1s.
The steering rack ones make a difference as do the rear axle ones and front wishbones. Rear shock mounts are debatable. The side mount ones are pretty average and you are likely to find that new VW ones would make more difference over sticking poly inserts into shot 25 YO ones.
The price is right though.

i know.... at $48 bucks for the rear pivot busings and similar amounts for a pair of the other ones.... it seems that it would be cheaper to get these ones. if i wanted to do the wishbones, rear beam and bump stops, and upper shock mounts, i'd be lookign at $200 AUD already.

The Prothane side engine mounts are used in conjunction with the VAG ones. They only fill the factory gaps so are a great way to go.
The front stub hasn't transmitted any extra vibration for me. A carb or K-jet Mk1 with a rougher idle would probably be a different story, though.
You won't get much of a discount with a group buy as they're so cheap anyway!! The Powerflex and Bonrath ones are a different story, though![]()

I reckon the front poly one is great and just leave the others stock.
No more vibration and good for launching. The rear one is a wrecker, leave that alone except on a racecar.

not going for a parts discount here guys... going for a postage SPLIT. ie, its better to send 3 sets of bushings at $100postage than one set at $90postage.
