Depends on how much money/time/know-how you've got to throw at it.
I think you'd be better off buying a cleaner, drivable MK1. Would probably work out cheaper. I wish I did.
This is a good example.
i know its pretty much impossible to tell from photos and an ebay page but would this be more trouble than its worth..?

Ditto that...
But the shell is a swallowtail - and they are just too cute. Would make another great build thread!
I'm going to the pub... I may be some time...
I'd offer him <$3k if that's any better haha.
not quite..lol. but its not my time yet
Well as most people here will tell ya, it's much cheaper to buy a solid, reliable RWC car and make it how you want it; than it is to buy a rust bucket, repair it, rego it, then make it how you want it.
Unless the 'rust bucket' has certain advantages to outweigh buying a 'better' car.
My honest recommendation: be patient.
Buy a complete car that someone hasnt butchered would be my advice!
"Buildt not bought"
But then again some of the hard work may already be done!
Hi all,i did offer him 3k for it and he turned me down so had to haggle to $3500 it seemed more than i wanted to pay but my mrs said go for it so i put a deposit on it and should get it over in about 3 weeks time.Got some pics of the dodgy bits like bonnet crazing and surface rust on inside of door and he cut speakers in the door cardsHope its as good as it looks when it arrives
