    Wanting a turbo mk1...

Hey guys i need a new engine (probably more want than need) and i'm real keen to get one that will run a turbo nicely. What should my shopping cart look like? Ps- don't want to tackle too much fabing etc so maybe keep it to a 16v 1.8L..

want dubdan selling his 16v turbo set up?
as a few others have said buy one thats been done would be the best option, but you've already got a decent one from what ive seen so why not just do your basic 2e swap? doesn't cost much n will provide enough fun for the meantime at least.

The money you would end up putting into doing something like that would end up being so much more than originally intended. As others said you are definately better off buying one that already has good power.

Anything is possible, but only reason people would go for a 16v turbo is the strength of the bottom end.
The 1.8 is a strong motor, but in all honesty you'd be much better off chasing a mk4 1.8T or 16v motor as the strengthening is already there.
