yes all good points. the blue slip factor appeals to me...i thought that a blue slip would only be needed if the car has been out of rego fo 3 months or more...and if i need to get a blue slip here in nsw then i will have to steer clear of this car as getting a blue slip on such an old car would turn out to be an expensive exercise for me...

    thanks, tom.

You can always make an offer on the car with the condition that it passes a road worthy test.. (that's if you're not confident crawling over it yourself) good way to see what's wrong with it by gauging his reluctance etc.. often people will tell you if somethings need doing.

It looks nice and clean though, great first car!

    (heaps nicer then my first!)

It definitely done 450K. it's been on ebay a while now, and i asked him a while back whether it was 150 or 450 as i was unsure, and he said 450.

I think he also said thats, running gear wise, it's all stock too. Apparently in the pics the front end is lowered, but, from memory, he said it's on stock suspension now.

looks pretty tidy man, i'd be checking it out for $1800. you can always just whack a new engine in if needs be but, yeah, have a good look over it first, or ask for a RWC.

i think its only been on ebay so long cause he's been asking too much. Good luck!

yeah i may have to give it a miss then. with that many kms on the clock it will need some engine work for sure sooner or later. maybe i should start looking for a already slightly modified mk1. 2dr or 4...especially due to being at school and not having a whole lot of time in between school work to modify the car/rebuild engine...

once again, you have probably already heard this from too many people already but...has any one got one they would like to part with preferably on the eastern coast of aust.

    thanks all.

Dado has a good base mk1 for sale, not modified but is a good price and looks like an honest little car (oh and it's not a 4-door )

Ks is the last thing I`d be looking at on a Mk1.

The 1.6 engines will never die and can be replaced for peanuts.

4 doors are cheaper and often have had easier lives.

There are very few rust free straight 2 doors around these days.

well if k's arent a worry...
i have been talking to dado about his. i would have snapped it up by now but it needs a blue slip...im not going to venture into the exercise of dealing with the blue slip because i havent owned the car, so i dont know it ups and downs which means i could discover hundereds of little things that need to be fixed due to the thoroughness of the inspection.

    thanks,
    tom.

That red one looks pretty good. Retrimmed interior and new paint, what do you want for the money?
Mechanical stuff on a Mk1 is cheap and easy to fix. rust and trim are not.

Blue slips are not the enemy, you can get a car through a blueslip that is still unroadworthy, they are just a measure of the MINIMUM standard that your car should be to be on the road.

Interstate shipping is not that much either, or get a $50 permit and drive it back. If it can make it from Victoria to NSW, it should pass a blueslip.

i've been thinking about it and i dont think that it will actually need a blue slip...because at the moment it is still registered in victoria until june. so all i need to do is bring it back to sydney, drive it around til june, then in june get a pink slip?
