One owner Mk1

I was just leaving the supermarket the other day when this hand painted diesel rattled up fitted up with an aluminium bullbar. The owner was an old geezer with still a few front teeth left. It turned out to be a genuine '80 model like mine, one of the last sold in SA. It probably shared the showroom with mine.
The owner told me that he bought it new, has never let him down & never been involved in an accident in nearly thirty years.
I wonder how many other Mk1 owners can also claim to have owned theres since new.

He said he may have to sell it soon even though it's only covered 140,000km because the people that service it reckon you can't buy the parts anymore.
It was interesting how he had used bits of rag & other bits of ingenuity to keep it going.
I have offered to help him with some part nos for parts that I know are still available & the name & phone no of a parts supplier.

pah, theres almost nothing you CANT get for a mk1... except the front spoilers, hehe.

a diesel with only 140,000km on it is a rare find indeed!

Apparently someone already has first option when he sells it. The hand paint job certainly would put me off, it would need to be completely repainted.
