So I might have a 2door shell coming my way soon. If that happens I can then get the engine(1.8T) in and start cutting and chopping my body etc to fit the quattro system.

Hell yeah, I have the starting kit for it:

Engine and gearbox mounts.
Steel to build the frame for the rear diff

And all the parts

Once I have the shell, I will install the motor and gearbox as is, and then work from the back the get the drive shaft line right.

From there I will need to start working on the strut towers at the rear first, that way I can maybe have the car's back on the ground.

Might have to recruit some Canberra boys and Paul for a few saterdays where I will supply beer for a few extra hands.

Have you had a chance to check out the usual rust spots?

Yes, all looks good. There is one "ugly" spot in the left wheel arch but should be able to repair that easily. I will have to find a passenger door. And I will have to replace the front end, but outside of the needed fabrication to make the setup fit and work, there doesn't seem to be much else needed.
