Either that's been over filled or it's got a lot of blow by and needs new piston rings.
Check the oil level first, if that's not it get a mechanic to do a compression test on it and we'll work out where to go from there.
ive recently purchased a 1976 mk1 golf as a resto job. ive got excessive amounts of oil and also smoke coming out of the hose that attaches to the top of the carb from the top of the rocker cover. and also spilling oil out of the dip stick. if any one could point me in the dirrection of whats gone wrong and what needs to be done to fix it that would be awsome.
