I got a orig GTi grille too but the paint is crappy. Must be a common problem.

i am such a hater of quad lamps!! even on mk2's.. hahaha i'm terrible... i think thats what drew me to mk1 and mk2s from a jap kid though.. the dual lamp ones.. they just look so classic and stylin.. i dunno guys i just don't think i could even run 4... unless they were yellow fog lamps that hung from under the front bumper thats kinda cool..

Yeah, I reckon the quad headlights looked so stupid on the early mk1..... Dunno what the prev. owners were thinking lol... the wheels are hideous too.... they have to go!!! Glad to finally change it back to the single setup for sure. Looks way better.
It's a pretty short grille as it is.... looks too cluttered up with the additional inner headlights lol

Making progress with yours Josh? RWC soon?

Nice one, good luck with it!
You'll find a workshop manual very helpful
I need to check the engine out in the mk1..... she's sounding a bit noisy lol and she's smoking pretty bad while warming up!

thats usually not tooo dangerous man, when the engine is cold the rings relax and it starts to burn oil.. pretty common for older cars. just be gentle till its warm as 80% of wear and tear is due to going hard on a cold engine!
