New diesel owner

Quick update:

Bought these from TAS, $330 inc shipping. 13x6

And this came in the mail today, bought on eBay as a "vintage VW driving light", $20. Test fit:

My wheels came today, 13x5.5JJ +32

Unfortunately, the rim hub is too big and the wheel bolts were too short easy fix though.

So anyway, I get it fired up and notice my brake lights are staying on. Traced the problem to the first brake light switch.

Thought it was just the corrosion but the lights are still saying on after a clean up, so I just unplugged it and the secondary switch works just fine.

Now the opposite is true, the brake lights won't work unless both switches are connected :/

My wheels came up a treat with a decent clean just gotta put some elbow grease into em and get the face shiny and the lip polished

Now the damn thing won't cold start...lots of smoke from the exhaust while turning over but no go....possible glow plug failure?

Got her started with a hell of a push start and a lot of bunny hopping....this poor car is dying in front of my eyes

Check voltage at the glow plug bus bar, should be about 11V there with the key on.

If thats ok, you probably have a dud plug. Buy a set of new ones, they are easy to change and you can usually get a set of 4 for under $100.

Cheers mate, I'm 100% certain it's the glow plugs as I git her started this morning by pouring boiling water over the head to warm it up :/ will be on the hunt for plugs when funds are available

Did another oil change, this time to 20w60 diesel oil, she runs smoother now and no more smokey exhaust as far as I can see although I think I need to wind the coilies up.....sorry sump
