the pedal needs around 20mm free play or looseness
5 minute job and all should be good
Thanks for all the help and advice on how to change the clutch in my g/f's cab late last year, got it all done, found the issue that caused all the oil in the bell housing and all over the clutch plate, and all is now good.
EXCEPT that since installing the new clutch, it seems to bite really late/high compared to where i would have expected it to. Have tried adjusting it where the cable goes into the gearbox, but that doesn't help.
When i put a new clutch in my patrol, it went from engaging about halfway up to engaging just off the floor, hence my concern with the new clutch in the cab. would hate for it to be not engaging properly and prematurely wearing the clutch. Another thought though is that there is no clutch smell......
Any thoughts?

Has it got the self adjusting cable.
Maybe a rubber spacer at the gearbox end will sort it.

I'm with Loon & it's not an uncommon thing either,
I've had to machine up a spacer roughly 15mm thick to put between where the clutch cable fits into the gearbox to regain adjustment with a new clutch.
I normally set mine with as little free play as possible, approx 10mm @ the pedal
The spec's are 15mm-25mm.
This adjustment problem can be caused be the cable stretching & the bushes loosing there hardness over their service life.

I just did a clutch in my mk1 had adjustment issues as well added a solid rubber spacer like mentioned works a treat.
MK1s and 2s came with a load of different size spacers at the gearbox end under the lever. Getting the right clutch cable is important if you ever change it as you can easily run out of adjustment if it's wrong.
I usually find that the threads on the adjuster are around half way, out if its set correctly.
