Nice work!, did you swap the linkage aswell? they are different slightly a 5spd linkage should not require any adjustment...

I got a selector bar modified to work for a 5 speed so have had to put that on, put new linkages and in too. I need to get the right spot on the spline, I almost got it right then it moved to far and I was way back out!

Just so I am getting this right, I need to get a 20mm gap on the bottom of the shift to space it out, then get the selector point straight up on the splines?

    All systems are go!

Finally got the linkages sorted, changed out all the bushings which made all the different.

Just took it for a spin, muffle is hitting so waiting for it to cool and will adjust it and take it out for a long run to iron out any bugs.

Big thanks to Jaimo who gave me a hand with it last night, he is a member here of the same name, only comes on occasionally though.

Everything should be sweet for the trip to melbourne.

Took it for a long service run late this arvo, couple of issues to sort out but it seems to be running ok. It's got an exhaust leak around the extractors and maybe an inlet leak also, I think i need to chase up an inlet and exhaust gasket for it, I have a feeling they are the culprit.

Engine goes heaps better than the 1600, I think i'm going to need to chase up a weber for it though, the stock carbie must be holding it back.

    Nice work man.
That water inlet looks familiar. That is from a certain blue car yes???

Yep, the engine is from the blue mk1.

Off to go change the strut top mounts now, the passenger side has ripped itself out badly, good it did it now and not going down the Hume

Well after my 530am clutch failure on the way to DOVW i've got a new one swapped in.

Looks like the metal plate on the center of the clutch plate that holds the springs in came off and broke up.

I had a missing linkz weighted/short shifter setup which I decided to put on. Can't say how great this setup feels, It's shortened the shift up by 50% and with the metal linkages free play is greatly reduced. The whole feel of the shift is so much better than normal, I don't think I could have another mk1 without this setup on it.

Got my P slots on finally after having them powder coated. Far out taking night shots is hard only a couple of them turned out. I'll try and take some shots during the day this week

Been prepping the car for the Supersprint this weekend.

Coilovers and GTI brakes went on, front control arm poly mounts went in today along with the extinguisher and almost all of the exhaust wrap is on as I was getting bad heat up onto the carby from them. I suggest not attempting to put this on with extractors on the car, right pain to do, only got pipe 4 to go though

Managed to get new bushings for the sway bars just got to get them on which hopefully happens tomorrow night, still trying to find some shots so I can 100% work out the fitment.
