sounds plausable. could also be an iffy headlight switch as well. depends how badly the push start has been wired i reckon

Yep had the same problem, ended up being two different things, ignition switch was buggered and replaced with a push-button
and also the headlight switch was wired incorrectly so lights would stay on regards of switch pos.
check all the light wiring, chances are you may have something connected to constant power, but the coming on and off intermitently is different.
good luck with it, would look the ducks with some coilovers and wider rims

Nice find! its getting harder and harder to find rust free mk1's.

If you dont want to be able to even open your 1/4 windows you can just sikaflex around the rubber seal its great stuff but dont get it on your fingers!

Not fussed whether to open them or not, the main issue at the moment is both of the latches are missing, both the windows seem attached to the hinges though. If I can get the latches I will put them back to original.

Fixed the dodgy ignition switch, all seems good now hopefully no more flat batteries

So i've been out doing some work on it finally, I want to drive it down to DOVW so some tidy up is in order.

Swapped out the taped up opening 1/4 vents for sealed ones lastnight, much better and much more secure!

Decided to pull up the carpets and take a look.

    Wet Carpet: Check!
    Wet undermatting: Check!

    Wet noise sealer stuff: Check!

    Rusty Floors?..... nah not really

There was more mud and dirt under everything than rust.

Gave it a quick hit with this and some 80grit and its all clean still got to clean out some of the mud and rubbish...

Trying to work out how i want to treat it, can you buy POR15 in a small tin? i've got some rust converter I will put on for starters so it's all good and clean.

Is that padding just to keep noise out? that stuff holds so much damn water! the passenger side was dripping and this car gets garaged!

Any alternative to it that are better? Dynamat?

Got some more work lined up for it, you will have to wait and see, should be looking good for DOVW

Is the sound deadening the thick stuff? or the rubbery stuff that is stuck the the floor? or both?
