New 77 rabbit with a wiring nightmare
So I have all but given up on the 82 westy I was working on, lack of been able to finish the body work and still be able to afford to paint it. It will be going to a new home next week. but in return I now own a 77 Miami Blue 3D with a sunroof and very good paint (single stage so it should be easier to blend in spots that need painting). Minimal rust (mostly light surface rust in all the usual places)
The issue I have is it has a 2L 16V swap and a total hack job on the wiring and I really don't know were to start! There is no spark but there is so many wires that go nowhere or have been cut! once the shell is out of the garage I will have more room to tear into it. The even bigger question is do I just pull the motor and start from scratch with the 1.8L 16V that I know I have the full harness for and is fully rebuilt.
But in the mean time I will be driving my summer daily a 79 3D diesel that got a much fresher 1.6L transplant about a month or so ago that is running like a champ, just needs the AC charged up now to make it even more of a daily for the summer!

Leave the 2L in and use the full harness for the 1.8L. Swap from the 1.8L engine to the 2L engine all sensors (oil, temp, fuel etc) so they match the connections on the full harness. This way the sensors will be the correct voltage/amperage to suit the gauges.
And post some pictures. Lots of pix.
Cheers
Paul

Paul, The cluster etc is a mess also I think it is from a 76. I do have an extra 1.8L harness and fuse box etc. so I will most likely go that route. the 1.8 swap I have has a fresh rebuilt head and a rebuilt tranny so we will see how it all goes. Its been a while but I do need to put some pics up of both the rabbits.
