That's the air meter/fuel injection unit in the corner yeah? on my b28 with K-jet had the flap side at the start of the intake going through the TB behind it, how is it going to connect on this?

Crossmember, well I thought you pulled everything apart?

    Looking Good Stu,

Which TB is that? I've got a spare 52/35 here if it's the smaller kind.

    Don't worry, I can't find a crossmember in a Mk1 either.

Must be the gearbox then, what's to the left just above the gearbox attatched to the chassis rail that looks rather nasty then?

Yep throttle Body was what I was rambling on about. The later MK2 and Audi one have a 52mm primary and a 35 mm secondary butterfly (from memory) which is the biggest bolt up type available. Some of the GTI motors had the smaller kind.

I have a spare Audi one here that I bought by mistake think I had the smaller type. I think I only paid $20 for it, yours at that price if it suits.

I think volvodriver is referring to your rusty gearbox mount.

You should be able to hook up that late model reverse switch in the box, the 1600 micro switch ones suck. They're easy to wire up and work fine, from memory they're 2 pin devices - just plug in the original wiring. If it's got more than 2 pins just google up the wiring, it's just a matter of knowing which 2 pins to use.

I can check mine for you, I've got all types, but I'm laid up in bed for a week recovering from knee surgery, so it won't be 'till the weekend at the earliest.

Look forward to seeing it on the road.

I have a co meter and know how to set the mixture on a KJet now, you'll have to bring it around for a tune when it's done.

oh i completely understand now thanks pete!

i shall tell you about the TB when i swap over the exhaust in a few weeks i shall measure it!

as for the reverse sensor i managed to take the one off my old 4 speed box and it just bolted on...it has a little arm and when it is pushed into reverse the arm presses down and pushes the switch button. i don't know what type that would be...i shall find out tomorrow if it works

thanks mate your a chap. hope your surgery went well and its all better very soon

Those are the microswitch kind, they aren't very reliable, if you can, wire up the late model one that's screwed into the gearbox (looks like a temp sender) you'll be far better off that way. Those early ones always play up and usually at the worst time, like in the middle of a RWC.
